The Barbados Scale Modelers Club was founded by a small group of keen R/C constructors and pilots and is dedicated to the building and flying of model aircraft of all types. Club membership is restricted -- by invitation only -- so our numbers are small, but growing slowly. Naturally, wives, sweethearts and children are frequent visitors to our club. The beautiful surroundings and fresh country air make for a pleasant afternoon for those who are not pilots themselves.

We generally welcome guests to our facilities. There is usually a drink to be had at our modest bar and very often a tasty tit-bit will come out of our kitchen or off the barbecue as well. If you are not a member but you would like to visit, please contact us. Foreign visitors are particularly urged to get in touch! Our Safety Officer has a joke he wants to tell you!

The club has recently constructed a new facility. Our previous field was vacated when our landlord asked us to move out. In just one year, we found ourselves with a bigger, better equipped clubhouse on a longer strip! Thanks to the efforts of our members and the generosity of friends, the new facility was brought to an advanced state in record time. Naturally, additional efforts must still be made, and it is doubtful that the work will ever truly be finished! But we are very happy with what we've done so far, and invite you to check out the new field and clubhouse. We hope our new facilities will (eventually) be more comfortable than ever, and lend themselves to even greater family participation.

But the club isn't the only place we fly! In season, when the Atlantic breeze is suitable, club activities migrate to our favourite east-coast sloping-site. The friendly, relaxed, club atmosphere surrounds pilots and guests, as slope gliders of all description take to the wing in excellent flying conditions, over spectacular scenery. The facilities may be lacking, but the fun comes with us when we travel away from our usual home. And just in case you are not familiar with slope gliding, and think that it is somehow inferior to flying powered models? Think again! Gliding at the slope is thrilling and exciting, humourous and fun. The most common remark heard from the first-time visitor to the slope is "Wow!!!" On top of being great fun to fly, gliders are cheap, clean, quiet, can fly for hours without landing, require far less support equipment and tools, and come in many shapes, styles and sizes! And once you become a glider pilot, you will find you become a better powered-model pilot as a result.

Test!
